The Eastern Veil Nebula

The Eastern Veil Nebula (C33) is an emission nebula located in the Cygnus constellation of the Milky Way. The Eastern Veil is part of a larger supernova remnant known as the Veil Nebula, or the Cygnus Loop. I have yet to photograph the Western Veil, C34.

Testing the ZWO Bicolor Filter

The image above was one of my first, taken in a Bortle 7 sky using the ZWO Duo-Band Filter and ASI533MC Pro camera. This allowed me to only capture the Ha and OIII data, giving rich red and teal colors.

The Cygnus Constellation

The Cygnus constellation is one of the most interesting areas of the night sky with multiple deep-sky objects including the North American Nebula.

The “Swan” prominently moves across the night sky during the summer and into fall, in the northern hemisphere. The brightest star is Deneb, which marks the tail of the swan, while Albireo its head.

Cygnus also is referred to as the “Northern Cross.” It contains six bright stars that form a “cross”. Deneb is one of the three stars found in the Summer Triangle, along with Vega and Altair.
