When the Earth, Moon, and Sun line up in space, we can see an eclipse. On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse crossed North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. These are very rare occurances, so I just had to travel to the thin strip of the country where totality was happening. In my case, that was just outside Cleveland, Ohio.
Phases
A composite image from start of the eclipse (C1) through the end of the eclipse (C4). Each segment was imaged in 10-minute intervals.
This image is available as a panoramic print!
Diamond Ring
The last stream of light, just before the Moon passes completely in front of the Sun. The glow resembles a diamond sparkling on a ring, hence the name.
